Are you an artist drawn to the power of the natural world, interested in exploring the relationship between humans and the environment, and looking to experiment with different modes of artistic expression? Our artistic residency program offers a unique opportunity for artists to immerse themselves in a creative environment that supports the deep development of their artistic vision, regardless of their background or artistic language. The program is designed to bring together a diverse group of individuals to cross boundaries in approaches and grammars of artistic expression, with the inclusion of cohousing and coliving to provide a vibrant community.
With five interconnected residencies focusing on sustainability, regeneration, and the intersection of art and science, offering five different lenses for artists to explore: Deep Ecology, Performance, Syntropy, Permaculture, and Land Art. These lenses collide to create a dynamic and interdisciplinary environment that encourages experimentation and innovation. The program is open to both invited and self-selected artists.
The Residencies program is not limited by scale, and discussions and creativity are woven together into a permanent tissue. The physical limit is the atmospheric circulation, which provides a boundary for the creative exchange. The program aims to have at least two seasons per year, with the maximum and minimum number of residents yet to be defined.
Our Deep Ecology in-residence program is designed for artists interested in exploring the relationship between humans and the natural world from a deeper and proprioceptive perspective. The artists will be encouraged to engage with their surroundings, developing a sense of place embodied in time. They will use natural materials in their immersive and self-attained work, touching a strong appreciation for the beauty and complexity of the natural world. Through their art, artists will explore the fundamental interconnectedness of all things, highlighting the need for sustainable and regenerative practices that promote a healthy and thriving common umbrella, that is our shared planet.
Our Performance in-residence program provides a space for artists to experiment with different modes of live performance, including theater, dance, music, installations and body-art. Collaboration is more than encouraged, and the surrounding environment can be used as a backdrop for the artists’ work. Artists will have the opportunity to explore the relationship between the human body and the natural world, experimenting in continuous and delicate movement the awareness of the internal and external senses in co-response to the natural environment. Instead of focus in develop their skills in live performance, artists will be enticed to collaborate with their fellows to create powerful and provoking works of art.
Our Syntropy in-residence program is focused on exploring the possibilities of transdisciplinary collaboration, working with scientific principles, including syntropic agroforestry and livelihood impersonating. Artists will have the opportunity to engage with frontier science approaches to develop new modes of artistic expression, collaborating with scientists and practitioners to create truly unique and innovative works of art. Through the combination of nature, technique, art and science, artists will explore the fundamental interconnectedness and swinging balance of all things, highlighting the need for sustainable and regenerative practices that promote a healthy and thriving life for us all.
Our Permaculture in-residence program provides a space for artists to experiment with sustainable living practices, including organic farming, water conservation, ecological education and shared life. Artists will work alongside fellow residents, observing patterns and going beyond the matters of simple combination, to experience how to create and maintain a sustainable living system; developing projects that addresses environmental issues, proposing cohesive approaches with the other residents. Through their art, artists will explore the importance of sustainable living practices, highlighting the need for a healthy and thriving planet.
Our Land Art in-residence program is focused on the creation of art that is integrated into the surrounding landscape. Artists will have the opportunity to develop a deeper appreciation for the world by working with natural materials and techniques, creating site-specific installations in fitness with the environment. You will be in constant experiment with different materials and techniques, exploring the relationship between your art and the natural world in permanent change. Through their combined art, artists will highlight the importance of dwelling while preserving and protecting the existing world for or own generative life continuation.
The residency time lasts for two weeks and is curated by artists and practitioners. As part of our commitment to sustainability and community, meals are shared among participants, emphasizing the importance of collective nourishment in both physical and creative pursuits. Common spaces including a plentiful workshop, serve as a hub for collaboration and community, with artists coming together to share their experiences, insights, and art.
At the end of each residency, artists have the opportunity to showcase their work in a public exhibition, sharing their unique artistic vision with the wider community. Through the program, artists can engage with one another, with local communities, and with the natural world to create new modes of artistic expression that push boundaries and expand the possibilities of what art can be. We welcome artists of diverse backgrounds and skill levels to join us on this transformative journey of exploration and collaboration, as we explore the possibilities of sustainability, regeneration, and the intersection of life, art, science and pleasure.
